The Boston Bruins Went The ENTIRE Month Of February Without Losing In Regulation, Oh And They Just Beat The Best Team In The NHL 4-1
David Backes woke up the TD Garden crowd with an early fight in the 1st against Adam Erne. Erne gave Backes a shot to the back after Louis Domingue gobbled up a shot from Charlie Coyle.
Bruins outshot the Lightning 17-4 in the first frame, but Louis Domingue stood tall.
The Lightning looked gassed in the middle of the second, they were on the second night of a back to back. Scoring chances in the 2nd: Boston 14, Tampa Bay just two.
Joakim Nordstrom has gone 18 games (19 including tonight) without a point. Shooting into Louis Domingue’s glove isn’t gonna help.
Sean Kuraly got double-teamed by Coburn and Kuraly and was shaken up, but skated off on his own power.
Tampa Bay got one back to make it a three goal game with 6 minutes left. 4-1 Bruins.
FINAL: Boston 4, Tampa Bay 1
News, notes and quotes:
- Jake DeBrusk is on an absolute TEAR right now. 7 goals and 5 assists in this current 8 game stretch. 21 on the year.
- David Krejci and Marcus Johansson are starting to develop some GREAT chemistry.
- It’s amazing what a fishbowl can do for you. Noel Acciari needed ‘extensive dental work’ after taking a puck to the face from Brent Burns on Tuesday and bounced back with a great game tonight. He had a goal, an assist and 5 hits tonight. The fucking fishbowl is magical. MAGICAL.
- 18 save performance from Tuukka Rask who even earned the assist on Jake DeBrusk’s goal. He has 7 wins in his last 8.
- Brandon Carlo took a Steven Stamkos clapper to the arm and headed down the tunnel. After the game Bruce said he seemed ok but would know more tomorrow. Sean Kuraly was taken out of the game (concussion spotter).
- I know the Lightning were on the second night of a back to back, but god damn did that win feel good. The Bruins feel like they can hang with these guys and they put together a full 60 minute effort tonight for the win. I said it when we played the Sharks, and I’ll say it again, but the Bruins defense has STEPPED UP. We’ll see Tampa Bay two more times before the season ends. Buckle up.
- The best part? They’re doing all of this WITHOUT David Pastrnak. See you soon, Pasta.
To recap: 11-0-4 in the month of February. No regulation losses. 15 straight games with a point, and the Fishbowl Noel era has just begun.
